Today on the blog, we are honored to have two of our SOLE SISTERS here to chat with us about friendship, fashion and finding that perfect pair of shoes.
Shauna Robertson – a Salt Lake City based style influencer and lifestyle blogger who is definitely “chic over 50!” www.chicover50.com
Ladies, we are just thrilled to collaborate with all of you! Thank you so much for sharing your insights with us. I’m going to jump right in since we have a lot to cover…
Love how you came together for our Campaign – can you tell us how you first connected?
I met Shauna from instagram when I was a boutique owner! I followed her and loved her style, I reached out, to go to lunch and she wanted to visit my boutique and we ended up collaborating. We became fast friends she’s so fun to be around and it was right at the time my personnel blog and social media was taking off, we started going to photoshoots together.
Me and D’Arcy met through Instagram. D’Arcy owned the cutest boutique just north of where I live and I went up and met her. She couldn’t have been more sweet! She taught me all kinds of things regarding social media, and it was just one of those friendships that was INSTANT! LOVE her!
Aww love this – you were Sole Sisters at first sight!
You’re both creative as well as professional women – how do you find your friendship enhances these two different aspects of your lives?
We have different styles yet we love a lot of the same things and we can show them off in different ways. Our friendship allows us to have fun and build each other up in career that can become a comparison game.
We don’t compare, we share knowledge, help each other out and focus on our talents. We can create photoshoots with multiple outfit changes and great photos in record time because we know each other and know how to make each other shine. Now that’s a friend!
I think you have to be creative when you’re putting out this kind of a fashion blog. I’ve never worked outside of my home, and so I’m TRYING to be professional and am learning the ropes as I go. D’Arcy is ALWAYS there to help ANYONE at ANY TIME. She’s much more of a business woman than I am! But through this community, we are learning from each other!!
Such a great example of how we can all help and support each other to achieve our goals and learn from each other…
Can you expand on why friendships like yours are important in our “modern Social Media driven” culture?
Anytime you can have a friend in the business world you can trust, makes it ”a good day at the office”. Social media can be tough, especially in today’s comparison world. A good friend doesn’t compare or judge!
We share our knowledge and build each other up! Having a friend in the same field to bounce Ideas off of, share tricks and express concerns with is so helpful. Both of us have a market and we both have something to bring to the table of this land of influence. We are trying to do our best to represent the new up and coming 40-50 year olds. We’re not the typical bloggers 20-30 year olds. We are showing that Fashion and beauty is for all ages.
I love to share tips, be helpful and give advise on anything from fashion, home decor, to a recipe that you can whip up fast and lets not forget beauty, we must share how we stay looking younger!!! (Hehe)
My focus is to be a help in anyway I can, if that means sharing a face mask that makes your skin glow or just writing and uplifting message, then that’s what I’ll do.
My friendships mean more to me now than they EVER have! My friends are MY TRIBE, my SUPPORT, my STRENGTH, my EVERYTHING!
I will never take my friendships for granted! Going through many difficult challenges at my age I’ve learned very quickly that FRIENDSHIPS ARE INVALUABLE!!!!
D’Arcy truly is the ULTIMATE friend. I’ve always been so impressed at her gift of being able to talk to anyone and making them feel special! I LOVE that about her!
Social media for me has been a LIFESAVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, ladies, now for some fun – if you were to describe each of your personalities in three words, what would they be?
People-person (some would say bubbly), helpful, creative
Particular, sensitive, FUN!
And if you were to describe each of your styles in three words, what would they be?
I really dress how I fill that day! Some day’s classic, some day’s rock n’ roll and others chic! I do love classic pieces and suggest spending good money on classics you’ll own forever! (Theres something about taking a photo and not having it be so trendy that you knew it was from last year instead of yesterday!)
Another tip I always share is… Don’t spend a lot of money on this year’s trend! Have the trendy pieces be your fashion finds. Let’s face it, it will be in the giveaway pile next year!
Sorry… 3 words didn’t work for me! I do love accessories and shoes they finish the outfit!
My style is COLORFUL, PLAYFUL, CLASSY
And tell us about how you see fashion as a way for women to connect with each other?
Connection through style is just that! People who love fashion or beauty can connect with others that have the same appreciation for clothing, design, style, texture or a designer!
My following knows I love shoes and some know I own over 100 pair! They also know if they’ve been following me for awhile I like different shoes and fun details. I also suggest don’t go for the black option…pick the color. While we all need certain style of black shoes in our wardrobe, your show stopper will be the color pop or print! Some of my following connects with me because of my love of shoes!
I’ve connected with women more through FASHION than any other thing. When you have a love for everything beautiful, it’s so much more fun to share it with a best girlfriend! There’s always going to be fun conversation! Only a FASHIONISTA can truly understand another FASHIONISTA!!!!
And what about photography, how do you see imagery as a way to express yourselves and connect with other women?
As the saying goes “a photo is worth a thousand words!” I love capturing a moment and sharing the idea or be helpful, if one of my photos can speak to someone else and it provokes a conversation then that brings me joy!
Photography brings me such JOY. I love creating beautiful images! The creativity is limitless, and there’s nothing like the satisfaction when you capture a beautiful picture! My favorite subject to photograph are women!!!
Ladies, thank you so much for spending the day together on behalf of PIC & PAY, I just have one more question…
What will be your perfect outfit and your perfect pair of shoes for Fall 2018?
I am a skinny jeans girl!
So, my perfect outfit normally consists of jeans and this fall will be no different! Distressed skinny jeans, a beautiful cream chunky knit turtleneck sweater, a great camel jacket, Gold square hoop earrings (my new obsession) and gold bangles with my on trend for this season leopard booties from PIC & PAY!
My perfect outfit usually always includes jeans, some fab shoes, statement bag, and glitzy jewelry! My top would be something with LOTS of fun color and POP!!!!!
We’re ready to go shopping! Thank you again ladies for this fun and insightful glimpse into your lives and your closets! You are both such style inspirations and we are so honored to feature you on our blog!
